Christmas is nearly upon us and the festive period for most businesses brings an increase in customers/sales and increased revenue. You don’t want to miss out on any of it by not being prepared. Social media marketing is an essential part of Christmas marketing preparation, and that includes Instagram.
Create a Christmas themed content plan.
This seems like such an obvious statement, but it’s potentially the bit that most businesses miss out on. We know you will need a lot of images and posts, but if it’s not planned and you get too busy then it’s often left out resulting in a drop in engagement once the festive season comes to an end.
Content ideas can include:
- Which products/services you want to push this Christmas
- What offers and sales you want to use (and when)
- How you want to encourage customers to purchase
Once you’ve got this information organised, you can create a bank of suitable images that you can share across social media, along with captions that you want to post alongside to maintain your brand voice. The quality of this content will be much better if it is planned and thought out carefully rather than just randomly posted with no purpose.
Choose questions to work with the theme
Consider the type of questions you would like to ask during the Christmas period. These can be about Christmas traditions, food, drink, office antics or even Christmas jumper day!
Examples could be – “Snowball or Baileys which is your favourite Christmas tipple?”, “Which do you prefer turkey or beef for your Christmas lunch?”, “What present do you want to find under the tree this year?”
Use scheduling software
The last thing you want to be worrying about is making sure you or someone from your team is available to post content over the holidays. We would recommend using scheduling software to create and schedule posts ahead of time. We use Hootsuite on a regular basis which enables us the time to get involved in conversation/engagement on social media sites so we are right in on the action as it happens but still have content going out at specific times when the target audience is online.
Use Christmas hashtags
Hashtags are a powerful tool on Instagram, and they have a few big important uses for brands. Researching Christmas-related hashtags ahead of time and planning out your strategies will keep you ahead of the game.
The Christmas season is already here for us and has been since July due to the customers we work with and making sure the campaigns are created and implemented to make the most of the season. Knowing how to prepare your Instagram and social media for the Christmas season can enable you to increase customers/sales and revenue further so get ahead and make a plan!
