Our Story

The journey all began back in 2011 when Sally took the plunge and founded Pick & Mix Marketing.

Having spent many years working in advertising sales, Sally was inspired to start Pick & Mix Marketing after listening to clients’ frustrations at not being able to find the marketing support they wanted within the budget of a small business. She realised that what they needed was not an ‘off the shelf’ approach as offered by so many other marketing agencies, but instead, a company that would listen to their business objectives and devise ways to help them reach new audiences using marketing activities that were within their means and price range. In short, a ‘pick and mix’ approach! The idea proved so popular that the business really took off and enabled Sally to move into a new office in York and employ a team of marketing experts.

Over the years, Sally and the team have become some of York’s most notable social media experts with Pick & Mix Marketing becoming a leading marketing and social media agency. The team now work for a range of independent businesses in the Yorkshire area from startups and SME’s to larger independent businesses.

At Pick & Mix Marketing we make sure we are always up-to-date with the latest trends and changes in technology and social media so that our clients have the benefit of cutting-edge knowledge. Our continual development and qualifications so far include Degrees in Marketing, Certificates in Social Media and Google Analytics, Chartered Institute of Marketing – Certificate in Professional Marketing, Digital Diploma and Professional Diploma in Marketing.

The main ethos of Pick & Mix Marketing means we work with clients to select only the support they need, at the level they need it, whether its creating and implementing a marketing strategy or managing their social media accounts. This provides our clients with the flexibility to not only spend what they can afford, but also the reassurance that expert support is there for them if, and when, they need it.

We love nothing more than helping our clients find solutions to their marketing needs; from creating content, placing PR, updating websites or showing them how to update their Facebook page. We have also been involved in creating successful award winning campaigns for our clients. It’s this hands-on approach at Pick & Mix Marketing that really gets our clients noticed.

We also believe in giving back to the community. We offer our help to other small business owners through talks and presentations at networking groups throughout Yorkshire, and we particularly like to support our local Bishopthorpe Road Traders Association. We also support local charities including York Against Cancer and York Mind.
